On February 18, 2022, the Dover School Board (Board) and Dover Teachers’ Union (DTU) began negotiations for a successor to a collective bargaining agreement that was to expire on August 31, 2022. Despite the good faith efforts of the Board and DTU negotiators, those negotiations reached an impasse on the issue of wages. Consistent with state law and in order to find a way past the unresolved wage issue, the parties sought the assistance of a fact finder. The fact finder’s report which is now posted on the District’s website, provided useful guidance to the Board and DTU negotiators. The fact finder did not recommend a specific wage schedule, but provided parameters the parties to consider during further negotiations. Based in part on the fact finder’s recommendations, the Board and DTU have been able to reach a tentative agreement on a new agreement covering the period from September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023, which is currently going through the ratification process.
